UPDATED for Monday 25th January... please keep a look out for my daily short video in the home learning section.  It will be updated soon after 9am.

I hope you all had a chilled weekend and saw some flakes of snow falling yesterday. Perhaps you could email me a snowy picture you have drawn?  Don't forget to read and do let me know.

Please email me a selection of home learning photos and also state whether they can be added to our photograph page or not.  Thanks.

Keep reading to the end of this page for other information and the learning links.

**************

Happy New Year to you all.  I hope that you are healthy and as safe as you can be, given ongoing Covid and government guidelines changing rapidly.

The Science this half term is about Rocks and we shall be linking it to our writing/history and a lady called Mary Anning. Our geography is studying more about the UK and regions around us.

Differentiated, challenging spellings will continue to be set each week and I will  update them below in the homework star.

PE is on a Tuesday with Mr Parsons for those children who are in.  They will be expected to wear their PE kit into school on these days.  Children are allowed to wear trainers instead of daps for PE. If at home, please see activities in the home learning star.

NO BAGS to be brought in to school, so we can avoid any cross contamination.  Their book bag, drink and packed lunch is all they really need, along with a coat for the chillier days.  As windows and doors are open ALL the time, an extra jumper should be worn.  They are NOT permitted to bring in toys of any kind.  If your child has been sensitive towards the soap we have at school, they are allowed to bring some in a labelled dispenser for their personal use.

Please see more information below in the stars, along with the new one labelled 'home learning' containing work should your child be absent from school.  I will update it daily.

DURING CURRENT LOCKDOWN - If there are any issues you should like to bring to my attention, please ring the office and arrange a telephone appointment for after school.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to ring during lunch time as there is limited time. A member of our team. either Mr Wilkie or myself, will be making phone calls to your child twice a week, if we have not seen them in our zoom lessons.

We have made up home learning books for EVERY child, so they can record their work from our website activities.  Work online and in class is fairly similar, with us both having the same lesson objectives. Should you wish to have your child's home learning book, please email me for a safe collection.

I am trying my best to accommodate learning for ALL of the children in class.  I am teaching some children DAILY at school, updating work daily here on the website, replying to your emails daily, photocopying work for your child (IF YOU DON'T HAVE FACILITIES AT HOME), and co-ordinating telephone calls.  Therefore, please bear with me. I am only human and cannot be expected to gather demanded work for your child with a drop of a hat...which has happened already. There are only so many hours in a day to squeeze it all in.

My email address for communication is:

 stjohns.kingfisher@gmail.com

(Please copy and paste it.)

Wednesdays AND Fridays at 2.20pm we will be doing a class zoom meeting.  Please email me for the codes.

On a Friday I am encouraging all children to go onto TTRockStars between 11am and 12 noon, so they can 'battle' between their friends.  Again, email me if your child has lost their log in details (should be inside their reading diary).  Zoom will be in the afternoon.

PLEASE STAY SAFE AND DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO LET YOUR CHILD PLAY WITH A FRIEND.  WE ARE IN A LOCKDOWN TO TRY AND STOP THE SPREAD OF THIS TERRIBLE DISEASE.

Many thanks,

Miss Eddy x
