Heather Class - Year 2

Welcome to Heather Class

What a smart group of Year 2 children we have.

Friday 18th February - school closure

Click on the Home Learning star below where you will find lots of learning tasks that you can work your way through today.

Have a safe and relaxing half-term beak.

This term we will be learning about Rainforests. We will be learning where in the world rainforests are located, how the trees and plants grow in layers and the wildlife that you might find in a rainforest.  In the folder below is a copy of the planning for this term, where you will see what we are planning on covering this half-term. There are also folders for our class photos and homework.

Heather Class will have their main P.E. day on a Tuesday and the children can wear their P.E. kits into school. We are hoping to have our P.E. lessons outside, as long as the weather allows, so please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit, as well as a jumper and/or leggings/jogging bottoms in case it is cold.

The children will be expected to read at least four times a week and an adult needs to record any home reading in their yellow Reading Records.  As well as reading, the children will be given spellings or phonics homework. This will be handed out on a Friday and is due in the following Friday. You will find copies of the homework for the different groups in the Homework Folder below. Please support your child with their reading and homework and encourage them to practice throughout the week.

If you need to speak to us, we are available before school for a quick chat, otherwise, please ring the office to make an appointment

Reading

At St. John's we recognise the importance of reading and the impact that it has on our pupil's everyday lives, which is why we are always promoting reading in school and challenging our pupils to read more widely and more often. We love it when our pupils tell us that they have had books as Christmas and birthday presents, so if you are looking for some inspiration for books that you can buy or borrow for your child to read, then have a look at the links below.
