Year 5 - Simmonds

Welcome to Simmonds Class smiley

Staff in Simmonds Class

Miss Brown: Class Teacher

Miss Waygood: Learning Support Assistant (am only)

Mr Parsons: PE Coach

Mrs Groves: Learning Support Assistant (Tuesday am)

In Simmonds Class, we benefit from additional adults who volunteer their time to support our learning. Mrs Hooper and Mrs Harding are both familiar and friendly faces to the children.

Simmonds Class is named after Ellie Simmonds, a famous former British Paralympian Swimmer. She has been recognised as one of many inspirational people voted for by the children in our school.  Simmonds is best known for her incredible achievements in Swimming. She holds the title of being the youngest-ever individual Paralympic or Olympic gold medalist at an inspiring age of just 13! Now that she has retired from her swimming career, she works hard to promote sport for all including young people who may have special educational needs and/or disabilities.

I am thrilled to be teaching Simmonds Class again this year and am excited for the new learning opportunities and enrichment that the children will experience as they move into Upper Key Stage 2.  We have a busy year ahead of us and I look forward to seeing the children continue to flourish in new areas of learning and topics. Please open the curriculum folder to see what we will be covering this term. To see an overview of the whole year, please look on our Curriculum page.  https://www.stjohnscofeprimary.co.uk/curriculum/

On a Tuesday morning, Miss Waygood will greet the children at the door. During the morning, Mr Parsons will deliver a PE lesson and Mrs Groves and Miss Waygood will support learning in the classroom. The children will need to wear their PE kits to school on Tuesdays. Later in the year, Simmonds class will have the opportunity to partake in swimming lessons as well as their weekly PE lesson.

As a reminder, we are a NUT FREE school. Please do take care when sending in snacks or packed lunches. Morning snacks should be fruit or vegetables, and drinks bottles should contain water please.

Thank you,

Miss Brown
