Fantasy Week 2

Fantasy - week 1

Hello!

We will be posting some activities you can do at home from 23.03.20 on this page. In the meantime, there is a home learning project that the children can be starting (see below).

We have also posted a link to PhonicsPlay, a great free resource that your children know and use in school. Maintaining regular learning of phonics is key to being a successful learner.

If you would like to contact us, please email us at the following relevant email address. We will endeavour to get back to you promptly.

Friday 3rd April

Happy Easter everyone! This is the last post we will put on here for a couple of weeks. You can still contact us via email. We will still call you to say hi during the holiday period.

Today we have a video for you to watch, all about celebrating Easter. How does your family celebrate Easter? Has anyone made an Easter Bonnet yet? Mr Priestley would like to see photos if you have.

Writing

We would like you to make an Easter card. Can you draw any pictures that make you think of Easter? Have a go at writing the card to someone in your family.  Don't forget to write a lovely message.

Number

Can you hop like a bunny? When you are in the garden or on a walk, count how many bunny hops you can do.  Have a few goes and see what the most amount of hops you can do without getting too tired. You will get extra height if you make bunny ears with your hands! laugh

Science and Measure

In the video you can see the children rolling their eggs down a hill. Can you find anything in your house that could roll eg. toy cars, a ball, a tin of beans, an apple? Which item do you think will roll the furthest? Now make a little ramp and roll them down your ramp? Can you make them roll any further? Why do some objects roll further than others? Measure how far your items roll. You can use anything to measure eg. your feet, hands, pencils, a ruler.

Thursday 2nd April

English

Can you remember the Bear Hunt from a couple of days ago? If you need to give yourself a little recap you can watch again in the Story Time section of our page. So, the children searched high and low through different locations describing each place as they want. Can you think of somewhere they didn't look? The jungle, or a soft play perhaps! It is completely up to you. Draw your page from the story and write underneath in the same style as Michael Rosen.

Maths

All around us are patterns.

Some are natural and some are man made. Can you explore different ways to make a pattern? Will it repeat itself, for example carrot pepper carrot pepper? Will you have more than two elements, so maybe 4 colours that repeat? Using whatever materials or toys you can find, have a go!

Bubbles Galore!

Check out this video, we thought this looked so much fun!

Phonics sound 'ur'

This is Mr Mc, he is super cool and makes learning so much fun! So today's session will involve learning the digraph 'ur'.

Wednesday 1st April

This week are thinking about Easter. Have a listen to the Easter story in our story time section of our class page.  We would like you to make a cross. If you are looking for an extra challenge, you could make a mini Easter Garden. Why do we think about the cross at this time of year? Have a go at labelling your garden.

Have an eggscellent day! smiley

Tuesday 31st March

How are we already on the last day of March? It wont be along until we are celebrating Easter. Now, what do you think of when you hear the word 'Easter'? One of todays activities is all about what Easter means to you and your family. Have you got a special family member that you can't see at the moment? Maybe a Grandparent? Give them a call or a FaceTime and ask them about Easter. Sharing ideas and hearing about how Easter has been celebrated over the years is important, maybe you'll learn something you never knew! Plus, it's lovely to connect with friends and family and to have a good chat.

Maths

It's time to open a shop! Find a few items around the home that you can pretend to buy and sell. Next you need to price them up - I suggest everything is worth 10p or less (unless you are feeling particularly confident today!) Next find some 'money'. It could be single pennies, or it could be pieces of lego, bits of pasta or good old fashioned apples. Each 'coin' is worth 1p. Choose two things to buy at the shop and have fun adding two numbers together to find the total that you owe.

*Who is going to add some labels and signs to their shop to squeeze some writing in there too?!

Monday 30th March

Good Morning.

We hope you have had a good weekend. Did anyone go on a bear hunt?

After the popular Draw with Rob (Biddulph), today we would like you to draw another character. This time it is Fred Bear.

#DrawWithRob 3 Fred Bear

Number game

Make some number cards 1-20 (you could use an old cereal box if you have no paper). Get someone in your house to hide them. Then go on a number hunt to find the numbers. Put them in order to see if you have missed any. You could even make the cards into an Easter egg shape.

Have a fab day!

Friday 27th March

Firstly...we have cocoons! Can you remember the different stages of the butterfly life cycle? Why don't you test your grown ups? To see if they know!

With this lovely weather, why don't you go for a small walk (ideally in an isoalted location!) or go into the garden or, just open a window and make a comfy place to sit down near it. Listen very carefully. What can you hear? Birds? Mummy making a cup of tea? When you're ready draw all the things that you heard and label them. Below is an example of how this might look...

Maths - capacity

I suggest this activtity either be done outside, over the kitchen sink or ideally in the bath! Hunt around the house and find a selection of containers. Draw or get a grown up to help you make a table. Next, make an estimate (clever guess) which container will hold the most and least amount of water. Can you then estimate the order they would come in from container that holds the most water to the container that holds the least? Check your estimations!! Were you close?

Have a great day everyone - it's Friday! Fri-yay!

Thursday 26th March

Hello everyone

3D Shapes

Today we are asking that you go and investigate 3D shapes. Did you know that they are all around us?  Watch the video below and then go and hunt around your house for any spheres; cones; cylinders; cuboids and pyramids. Count how many corners and faces the shapes have.

Creative

If you can find any empty 3D boxes or tubes, see if you can make a character out of your shape. You could add eyes; hair or other features.  You can even give your character a name.

You could even have a go at writing a description of how you made your character.

We are loving seeing your photos and posts on Tapestry. Keep them coming! 🌈

Have a great day

Number

On a piece of paper or an empty cereal box, write out your numbers to 10 or maybe even 20. Next, go on a treasure hunt around the house and find the correct number of objects to match each numeral. Remember, count each item only once!

Writing

Have you watched the story time video on our class page yet? Your challenge is to think of your own weird and wonderful medicine and write a list of ingredients. Remember - spellings things 'correctly' doesn't matter - use your sound mat and write down the sounds that you can hear. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Have a great day

Then have a go of thinking of a sentence about what they look like now. Don’t forget to use your sound mats and words in your packs. Carefully think of the sounds you can hear and write them down in order.  You could even write labels for your picture.

Monday 23rd March

Good Morning everyone.

A good way to start the day is to get your bodies moving.  Why not kick off the day joining  Joe Wicks for his live workout for kids at 9.00am. Parents could join in too!

Rob Biddulph is an author and illustrator. Today you could watch his video, giving you step-by-step instructions on how to draw your own Gregosaurus.  Don't forget you can share you drawings with us on Tapestry or email us.  We look forward to seeing your masterpieces!
