Our 2023 - 2024 Mission

During 2023-24 the Green Team began a new projects in the school grounds and involved the whole class too. This was the first year the Green Team were put into action at St Johns and what a busy year we had.

We became part of the Better Planet Schools family and completed our first module all about Nature and Biodiversity.

The Mural Competition 2023 24

Our competition in school to design 4 murals is underway.  Each mural represents sharing joy and hope: at home, at school, in the community and across the world.

The murals were designed by Madeleine, Ava, David and Harley.

Three have been created, and the fourth will be underway in 2024/25.  Watch this space...

Transition Town Wellington

This year, we were very lucky to have some guidance and support from Transition Town Wellington giving us some expert growing advice while getting our garden set up.

Green Energy Education

This year, we added the geography unit 'Enough for Everyone' to our curriculum.  We learnt all about renewable energy.  We worked with Earth Energy Education to learn about solar power, and our very own Mr Mitchell showed us a working model allowing us to see solar power in action.

Energy conservation with Exeter Science Centre and the 'Operation Earth' and 'We are Guardians' project

We were so lucky to have Exeter Science Centre bring their Operation Earth project to school.  We had the opportunity to see 'We are Guardians' and learn about our role in caring for the earth.
