In Windsor Class, we are starting the year by learning all about ourselves and what makes each of us so special. We will celebrate our families, talk about the people who are important to us, and think about how we are all unique.
As the seasons change, we’ll be exploring autumn. We will learn about the changes we see around us, such as falling leaves, shorter days, and cooler weather. We’ll also be finding out about woodland animals and how they prepare for the colder months ahead.
This term, we’ll enjoy reading and learning from these wonderful stories:
Families, Families, Families – celebrating the many different kinds of families
The Leaf Thief – a fun autumn story about change and friendship
Owl Babies – a heart warming tale about family and feeling safe
Through these books, we will share stories, ask questions, and take part in creative activities that help us explore our themes.
We can’t wait to begin this exciting journey of learning together!
In our class, we learn in many different ways to make sure everyone feels confident, supported, and excited about learning.
Whole Class Inputs – We come together as a class to share ideas, listen to stories, and learn new skills.
Guided Groups – Children work in small groups with an adult to focus on specific learning, such as phonics, maths, or early writing.
Learning Through Play – Much of our learning happens through play. In the Early Years, play is how children explore, discover, and make sense of the world around them.
Play allows children to:
Develop their imagination and creativity
Build social skills like sharing, taking turns, and working together
Solve problems and test out their own ideas
Explore language, numbers, and the world in a fun and meaningful way
Through play, children grow in confidence and independence while developing the foundations for future learning.
