What a fantastic week the Year 6 class has had at St John’s C of E Primary school, Wellington!
Their treats started last Friday when the ice cream van treated them, along with the whole school, to an ice cream. This week, despite them all completing their SATs, they’ve all had a smile of their face and felt confident about doing the assessments. Every morning they were invited in early to have breakfast with their class mates, before each paper the children were given juice and biscuits, and on the final day, they enjoyed their Fry-Up Friday. The children (and their teachers) enjoyed bacon, sausages, bread rolls and beans, the perfect way to end a very busy week.
Each child then received a certificate in assembly praising them for their exceptional efforts and awesome attitudes throughout the week. The rest of their day has been spent at the park and having a film in the afternoon. Their teachers are so very proud of their achievements throughout this academic year, especially during this week which most were nervous about when starting Year 6 in September. “Now that I’ve done my SATs I know I had nothing to worry about as we’ve been practising all year!” one student said while others commented they thought it was quite fun. As the morning were focused on SATs, the children have enjoyed a more relaxed curriculum in the afternoons, by doing lots of art, music and PE.
