Children and staff at St John's Church of England Primary school (Wellington), strangely disappeared on Thursday 3rd March and instead many different book and nursery characters came to school!
To celebrate 25 years of World Book Day, the children took part in many different activities. They shared the book, 'After the Fall', which tells the story of what happened to Humpty Dumpty after he fell. Based on this story, new versions were created, art work included making Humpty Dumpty and building walls, science experiments with paper aeroplanes, parachutes and boiled eggs, and maths problems working out the volume of Humpty's wall.
Later on in the afternoon, the children took part in a live story-telling session, and enjoyed a rap version of Humpty Dumpty by some of the teachers.
All of those who dressed up, took part in a fancy-dress parade, judged by head teacher Mr Priestley.
Certificates were given to some children for their impressive costumes, and two children received book vouchers as overall winners.
