Children at St John's Church of England Primary school celebrated harvest on Thursday 21st October. The whole school over the last few weeks have been very busy learning harvest songs in class, creating harvest poems and writing prayers. They then celebrated this together by sharing class videos and having individual assemblies with their teacher and headteacher Olly Priestley. Although they could not gather as a whole school, the children were thrilled to share what they had learnt via zoom and videos which were then shared with families at home. Year 5 and Year 6 enjoyed their harvest service by joining St John's Church for a special service which also included the promises of the new pupil chaplains.
Many children and their families kindly donated a large amount of tinned and dried goods which has been donated to The Homeless Shelter and Refugee Organisation. As a school, they were very appreciative and thankful for the kind donations brought in by so many families, a reminder of how the school continues to share joy and hope with the community.
