Monmouth Class- Year 5

We are now approaching the end of the autumn term and looking forward to the Christmas festivities. It has been a busy term and the children in Monmouth Class have worked hard. We enjoyed reading Street Child and producing lots of written work based on the book. We have also covered a great deal of content in Maths lessons this term, including place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication, division and also statistics.

The biographical talks that the children prepared at home and shared with the class, were very good indeed.

We have worked hard to create Christmas gift labels to sell at the fair.

Everyone now needs a well earned break to rest up and prepare for the spring term.

Merry Christmas!

Homework

Homework for Monmouth Class is given out on a Thursday and due in by the following Wednesday. This will be spelling list, a maths sheet and a literacy sheet.

Reading - children should read at least 4 times a week at home and have their Reading Records signed at home by an adult.

Spellings - the children will have a weekly spelling list to practise. This is in their red spelling books. These books need to be in school every Thursday, so we can give out the new list.

Times tables - these need to be practised at home. Children are expected to know all the tables up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4.
